Peel Regional Police are investigating a crash in Mississauga this morning that has left a driver injured.
Police initially believed the collision was a hit-and-run, but later learned that one of the vehicles involved left the scene and parked a short distance away. That driver then made his way back to the scene several minutes later, police said.
The crash occurred just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Burnhamthorpe and Wolfedale Rds. A car and a minivan collided, sending the van careening into the traffic light pole and knocking it to the ground.
Police said the car initially drove away, but the driver later returned to the scene.
The male driver of the smashed van that remained at the scene was taken to Trillium Health Centre with minor leg injuries.
The intersection was closed while Region of Peel crews fixed the traffic light.
