A 44-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing Monday night outside a Malton rooming house.
Peel Regional Police made the arrest last (Wednesday) night.
Officers were called to the rooming house on Shallford Rd. Monday at around 7:15 p.m. after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that there had been a fight between two men that ended when one of the combatants was stabbed. Keith Shortridge, 43, was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Peel Police haven't revealed the cause of death, although neighbours had called 9-1-1 to report a stabbing.
Romeo Kanhai has been charged with second degree murder.  He will be making a brief court appearance today and will be remanded in to custody.
 The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Peel homicide bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.
