May 6, 2008 11:04 AM - Credit Valley Conservation is inviting Mississauga residents to Canoe the Credit on June 1.
Proceeds from the initiative will go to CVC's Conservation Youth Corps Program.
This non-competitive paddle offers three routes down the Credit River and finishes with a post-paddle party at the Mississauga Canoe Club in Port Credit.
The first route, a five-kilometre path, is suitable for beginner-level paddlers and families. The second, an 18-kilometre route, is offered for experienced paddlers. The third, a 25-kilometre route, is for experienced paddlers looking for an added challenge.
All registered paddlers who collect the required minimum of $50 in pledges will receive an official Canoe the Credit t-shirt and CVC Foundation Enviro-pak. Prizes for the most pledges collected will be awarded to the top 10 pledge collectors.
Paddlers are responsible for providing their own boat, paddles and safety equipment.
CVC recommends that each boat has two competent paddlers, with one experienced paddler. No more than three adults are permitted per boat.
Register online at www.creditvalleycons.com or for information, call 905-670-1615, ext. 447.
