The future of healthcare and the legacy of aboriginal residential schools are some of the thought-provoking and relevant topics to be discussed as the Spring 2008 Canadian Perspectives Lecture Series continues at University of Toronto Mississauga.
“The calibre of this year’s speakers is especially noteworthy,” said Sue Prior, UTM’s manager of alumni development. “For example, Janet Davidson, who will discuss (during her presentation on May 15) key issues that will affect the future of Canadian healthcare, is the president and CEO of the Trillium Health Centre, a large two-facility centre in Mississauga and West Toronto that treats 750,000 people annually."
Prior also had praise for other speakers — the Hon. Frank Iacobucci, who served as a Supreme Court judge, and University of Toronto professor Michael Gervers, who'll speak Thursday morning on recent discoveries in art and architecture in Ethiopia.
Iacobucci will speak May 22; his presentation is called Legacy of Indian Residential Schools.
The public lectures take place at 10 a.m. in the Matthews Auditorium, Rm. 13, Kaneff Centre, at UTM. Admission is $10. Parking is free.
The series is organized by the Associates of Erindale College. Proceeds support student scholarships.
