Householders do spring cleaning.
Peel Regional Police have their own form of the same exercise on Mississauga streets - their annual spring safe driving project to try to clear streets of aggressive drivers.
The campaign, dubbed Project Safe Driver began last Saturday and continues until May 25. During that time police will be out in larger numbers in key locations through the City and Region to try to reduce speeding and aggressive and unsafe driving.
"The Safe Driver campaigns have become a tradition within traffic services division and are designed to emphasize both education and enforcement elements of road safety," the force says in a press release today announcing the campaign.
Among the issues police intend to address in the blitz include speeding, improper turns and lane changes, impaired driving, aggressive driving, and vehicle safety checks for passenger and commercial vehicles.
"Individual decisions on the part of drivers to obey traffic laws, keeping their vehicles in good repair, and make appropriate use of safety equipment can have a positive impact on everyone using the roadway," says the release.
