It will be a musical stroll through the 1940s, '50s, '60s and '70s when vocal trio The Mantini Sisters come to the Living Arts Centre (LAC) for a weekend performance.
The group is comprised of middle sister Barbara Mantini who's joined on stage by younger sibling Ann and older sister Sandra. The singing siblings will appear at the RBC Theatre for the Moments to Remember concert on Saturday. The performance closes out the LAC's 2007-2008 season.
The live show is a tribute to some of the most popular female pop singers of the mid-20th century.
During an interview with The News the last time the ladies made the trek to town, they said artists such as Doris Day, The Shirelles, Chiffons and Dixie Cups as well as the Carpenters and Dione Warwick are covered in the first act. The second half is billed as a trip down memory lane as some of the top television show theme songs and commercials are featured.
"We do everything from the Chiquita Banana commercial right down to Laverne and Shirley," Barbara previously told The News . "We grew up in the era of television variety shows and musical comedy. The songs we sing are the ones the audience grew up on."
Performing together for more than two decades, the sisters’ first real start in music was performances in the Charlottetown Festival production of Anne Of Green Gables in 1985. The next year, the women went across Canada with the troupe on a national tour.
In 1997, the sisters prepared the Moments to Remember stage show. It spawned an album of the same name the following year.
In 2004, the trio released its second album, The Mantini Sisters Christmas.
Show time is 8:30 p.m.
Tickets start at $25. To purchase, call 905-306-6000.
