The 10-year-old member of Gymnastics Mississauga, competing in her first provincial event, captured top spot in the level six category for her age group last weekend at the women's artistic championships in Niagara Falls.
Bascombe, who trains 20 hours a week, won the floor exercise, tied for second in the beam, tied for fifth in the bars and finished in a tie for seventh in the vault to capture the over-all title.
Another Gymnastics Mississauga competitor, Isabella Demarco, took eighth spot in the same level six category and Samantha Hall tied for 12th spot in the field of 27.
Marika Rae of Gymnastics Mississauga placed third over-all in the level seven group for nine-year-olds. She won the vault and beam events and was fourth in the bars and floor events.
Azaria Samaroo was 13th in the level seven 10-11 age category. Her best event was a tie for fifth in the beam competition. Katie Annan and Paolina Onorato were in a three-way for 23rd place.
Katie Annis tied for 21st spot in the level six 12-13 age group and Stephanie Jackson tied for 25th place in the same group.
