A 21-year-old Mississauga man, facing charges of criminal negligence causing death by street racing, will be back in court again June 23 for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
Ravi Badhwar was bound over for the preliminary along with Prabhjit Multani, 20 of Etobicoke this week in a case that drew national headlines after trucker David Virgoe, 48 of Innisfil Ont. was killed in a crash last June 18 on Highway 400.
Three drivers were allegedly engaged in a high-speed race on Highway 400 when one of them clipped the front of Virgoe's vehicle causing the truck driver to swerve and hit a guardrail. His truck spun and flipped over in the ditch.
Several witnesses said at the time that Virgoe's evasive action kept the truck from veering into the northbound lanes, probably saving additional tragedy.
Last month, another man, Nauman Nusrar, 20, of Etobicoke, pleaded guilty to the same charge.
He will be sentenced May 15.
