A couple of Mississaugans are among the 18 members of the National women's soccer team who are in Washington for tomorrow's friendly against the top-ranked female team in the world, the United States.
Jonelle Filigno and Robyn Gayle are among the Canadian team members who will be facing the United States for the third time this year.
It will be the 42nd time the two senior teams have met in a rivalry that has been dominated by the Americans.
In their last meeting, last month in Juarez, Mexico, the Canadian side scored in extra time to earn a 1-1 draw in the 2008 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament. It was the first point Canada has managed in the last five years against the U.S.
The last time Canada defeated the United States was back in 2001 at the Algarve Cup tournament.
Canada, currently ranked ninth in the world, has three wins, four draws and 34 losses all-time against the Americans.
