June 2, 2008 02:16 PM - The Canadian Emergency Services Boxing Association (CESBA) is set to launch a series of amateur boxing events across the country to promote camaraderie, goodwill and friendship between police, firefighters and paramedics.
Training for the events, which also help various charities, began last Thursday morning (May 29) at Kombat Arts Training Academy in Mississauga.
CESBA is a grassroots organization whose membership includes police officers, firefighters, paramedics, probation and parole officers, correction officers and members of the Canadian Border Services Agency and its supporters.
CESBA boxing events feature female and male emergency service workers meeting each other in the ring, where the clear winners are the select charities, said Peel Regional Police Insp. Barry Dolan, also CESBA president.
