The Peel Poverty Action Group is holding a public forum on Thursday, July 3 for parents in the Streetsville-Meadowvale area to help them learn more about the Ontario Child Benefit.
The meeting will be held at Britannia Glen Co-op (5995 Glen Erin Blvd.), starting at 7 p.m.
In July 2007, eligible families received a one-time down payment of up to $250 for each dependent child under the age of 18.
Beginning this July, the Ontario Child Benefit will be delivered to eligible families each month. Also, some 460,000 families will receive a monthly child benefit payment of up to $600 per child annually.
When the program is fully implemented, in 2011, more than 600,000
low-income families will receive up to $1,100 per child annually.
For more information about the meeting, call 905-826-5041.
