The Sunday Night Special, held the last Sunday of each month at the ESC's Lost Lounge, was created by Mississauga's Amber Farion and Jackie Downard. The two wanted a place where artists could share their creations and network with other creative people.
"We wanted to give the indie arts community we have in Mississauga a chance to grow," Farion wrote in an e-mail to The News. "The nights usually consist of five performances either by bands, poets or actors. We also offer artists, photographers and designers the chance to sell their work the night of, as well."
The second installment in the series takes place this Sunday.
Musical sets by The Trombolinas (www.myspace.com/thetrombolinas), Kansas Flash Dance (www.myspace.com/youdontwinfriendswithsalad), No Brigade (www.myspace.com/nobrigade) and Tonnn (www.myspace.com/tonnnrules) are scheduled.
Also, poet and comedian Jeff Cottrill (www.myspace.com/jeffcottrill) performs, and paintings by Brittney Townson and jewellery by Moriah Kostuk-Simpson will be on display.
Show time is 7 p.m. Tickets cost $7.
Admission is restricted to those aged 19-older.
Organizers are also accepting artist submissions for upcoming dates in the series. Those interested can e-mail a submission letter and samples of their work to vigilantejusticeproductions@gmail.com.
