Vocalist/guitarist Alex Norman, guitarist Will Marr, bassist John Doherty and drummer/vocalist Swav Piorkowski rocked the MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVA) earlier this month with a live performance on the building's rooftop.
The band, which headlines Canada Day festivities this Tuesday at the Civic Centre, also had five MMVA nominations and was up for a 2008 Juno Award in the New Group of the Year category.
Last summer, illScarlett showed its athletic spirit when the FIFA U-20 World Cup Soccer tournament used the single, Who's Got It, as the official song of the games. The band also performed the song during half-time at the tournament's opening game and played at the Virgin Festival in Vancouver.
After all the touring and accolades, the foursome returns home as conquering heroes to perform July 1. The band takes to the main stage (Central Library square) at 8:45 p.m. Fireworks follow the set.
Following is a schedule of activities Tuesday at City Hall:
• opening ceremonies, with emcee Jake Dheer and Mayor Hazel McCallion at 1 p.m.
• a tribute to 80 years of Japanese-Canadian relations (1:30 p.m.) followed by the Yakudo traditional Japanese drummers (1:45 p.m.)
• Treehouse TV's Max & Ruby (2:10 p.m.)
• Chinese Dragon Dance by All Masters Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe (2:50 p.m.)
• Delta Folk Kids band (3:30 p.m.)
• Shiamak’s Indo Jazz Dance Movement (4:10 p.m.)
• Grace N' Style hip-hop dance showcase (4:50 p.m.)
• Mississauga Choral Society (5:30 p.m.)
• Mississauga comedian/television personality Mike Bullard will introduce and emcee the evening's entertainment (6 p.m.)

Meanwhile, at Paint the Town Red in Port Credit, things get started at noon on July 1 with a performance by Organized Chaos at Port Credit Memorial Park. Other events include:

There's also an opening ceremony, O Canada sing-a-long and cake-cutting at Lakeshore Rd. W. and Winonah Ave. starting at noon. The Marauders will warm up the crowd with local soprano Aria Tesolin leading the sing-a-long at 3 p.m.
Australian artist Marta performs at Credit Village Harbour Marina from 2-4 p.m. while The Renegades go on at 2 p.m. at St. Lawrence Park followed by staff and students from Lowes' School of Music at 3 p.m.
In Streetsville, at the Cenotaph Square, the fun starts at 4 p.m. with a variety of children's activities.
