Subaru Canada announced yesterday that it set a new record for June results with sales of its lineup of all-wheel drive vehicles reaching 1,822 units, up 34.9 per cent over last June. It was the seventh consecutive record month of sales growth for Subaru Canada, which has its national headquarters in Mississauga.
The company markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of 89 authorized dealers across Canada.
Meanwhile, Kia Canada announced yesterday the company enjoyed its best June ever with sales of 3,772 vehicles, a 10.9 per cent increase over the same period last year. In addition, KCI reports its best ever first half year-to-date with 18,661 units sold, up 11.6 per cent over the same period last year.
It was also the second consecutive all-time best month for the Sunbaru Forester SUV, with sales hitting a record high of 781 units — 152.8 per cent more than were purchased in June of 2007 and 39 units more than the record set just one month ago.
Impreza sales also continued to be strong, with monthly retails of 718 units up 29.4 percent over the same month last year.
"It is especially satisfying to have such a great month when the industry as a whole is struggling," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president and CEO of Subaru Canada. "Consumer response to the new Forester has been phenomenal, and Impreza continues to have enormous appeal for drivers who want lots of sporty performance in a vehicle that's affordable and fuel-conscious."
Kia, which employs employs approximately 120 people in its Mississauga headquarters and three regional offices across Canada, reports that sales of the Magentis soared by 53.7 per cent in June. The Rio was up 28.7 per cent and the Sedona was up 25.3 per cent.
Sales were also up for Rondo and Spectra over the same period last year.
"It has become increasingly important for households to make high quality value-driven purchasing decisions in difficult economic conditions," said Maria Soklis, Kia's Director of Corporate Planning and Communications. "Thanks to the efforts of our national dealer network, growing brand awareness and high quality efficient vehicles we have experienced a steady increase in sales
through the first half of the year."
