Vette, backed by his eight-member band The Flames, will rock the crowd with some of the best music of the 1950s. Even Vette himself admits it was like the band was plucked from the '50s and dropped smack dab into the 2000s.
"We try to give this music and the artists the respect they deserve," said Vette. "When people see our show that witnessed the original rock and roll explosion, they say 'You guys got it, that's the way it really was.' That's very gratifying."
The band will provide its take on classic rock music from artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Ricky Nelson and Jerry Lee Lewis.
The band prides itself on authenticity and said it strives to provide letter-perfect musical arrangements of the biggest hits from the biggest artists of the era. Betty Vette leads the band's female vocalists covering songs like He's a Rebel, It's My Party (And I'll Cry If I Want To), Chapel of Love and other songs from artists such as Brenda Lee, Connie Francis and Patsy Cline.
The concert, happening in the Central Library Square, starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
