The Globe and Mail is reporting that a Mississauga woman arrested in Thursday's drug sweep is the girlfriend of one of the police officers who was also charged in the operation.
The report says Jessie Nguyen, 29, was arrested at her parents' Mississauga home at 1101 Sherwood Mills Blvd., the alleged site of a marijuana grow-operation, along with her parents and 23-year-old sister.
Nguyen and her family remain in jail pending a bail agreement, but Nguyen's boyfriend, Toronto police Const. Patrick Lee, was released yesterday on $50,000 bail.
The Nguyen's lawyers said they have no prior criminal history and are 'misguided angels'.
All of the accused were among 23 arrested during a York Regional Police raid which seized about $60,000 and 17 pounds of marijuana.
The suspects are charged with producing marijuana; trafficking marijuana, ecstasy and steroids; and possessing counterfeit money.
Lee, 31, is charged with belonging to a criminal organization, conspiring to commit a crime, production of marijuana and breach of trust by a public officer.
