Author Natale Ghent is appearing Thursday at the Central Library to speak about the mysterious world of unexplained phenomena and the supernatural.
Ghent, who has published four novels, is speaking at a workshop entitled Things That Go Bump in the Night: Abandoned Spaces and Haunted Places. Her hour-long presentation is recommended for those aged 12 and older.
The presentation starts at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
Ghent, who was born near Chicago, but grew up in Woodstock, studied English literature at the University of Guelph. An admittedly passionate reader and writer, Ghent also studied novel writing and communications at the University of California San Diego.
Looking for a more stable job, Ghent moved back to Canada to study landscape architecture. She said she enjoyed that experience, but it also taught her that writing was her first love.
After leaving the program, she wrote two novels in the first year. Her first, Piper, was picked up by Orca Book Publishers in Vancouver and Ghent has remained an author ever since.
She has also penned The Book of Living and Dying, No Small Thing and All the Way Home.
