More than 250 golfers teed off at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board's 11th annual Classic golf tournament yesterday at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club in Milton and helped to raise $100,000 for a good cause.
The Classic has raised almost $850,000 for charity over the past 10 years.
This year, the Dufferin-Peel Board and Metafore IT Solutions were co-hosts of the event that supported Community Living Mississauga, a non-profit organization that provides support to more than 1,600 people with intellectual disabilities.
Those participating in the tournament were employees at the Catholic school board and Metafore, and business partners of both organizations.
Meanwhile, the line-up of golfers included special guest Lisa Bentley, a former math teacher in Mississauga with the Dufferin-Peel school board, and winner of 11 ironman triathlons.
Bentley hit the links and talked to participants about her success in triathlons and her experience coaching ironman athletes.
Her athletic success is particularly noteworthy given she has cystic fibrosis, which affects her lungs and digestive system and can leave her susceptible to chest infections.
