Peel Regional Police said the teenager was walking around the lake just after midnight when he was approached by four men who began to follow him. Eventually they stopped him and demanded he turn over his his wallet.
One of the assailants indicated he had a weapon, although police said no weapon was seen by the victim.
When the man refused to turn over his money, a fight broke out and he was thrown to the ground and beaten. He suffered bruised ribs and a bloody lip.
After stealing the victim's wallet, the four suspects ran off.
The first suspect is described as a black man, six-foot-four with a large build. He was wearing a black hat and shirt, blue jeans and a gold chain.
The second suspect is described as a black man, six-foot-tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white hat and black shirt.
The third suspect is described as a white man. He was six-foot-one and wearing a white tank top, black hat, bandanna and blue jeans.
The fourth suspect is described as a white man who was about six-foot-tall with a skinny build and curly, shoulder-length hair. He was wearing a green hat.
The victim was taken to hospital to be checked out.
