Mississauga's Hydrogenics Corporation has won a contract to supply Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) with 20 fuel cells designed to power lift trucks.
CTC, a technology provider for the Department of Defense (DoD), will replace lead acid batteries currently used in lift trucks at the Defense Distribution Depot Warner Robins Georgia located on the Robins Air Force Base in the United States with the fuel cell power packs. The Mississauga company plans to deliver its products by Dec. 31, 2008.
"Hydrogenics has focused on material handling equipment, including lift trucks, as an important commercial mobility market for fuel cells," said Hydrogenics president and CEO Daryl Wilson. "We have developed our (fuel cell) as a leading-edge replacement product for lead-acid, battery-powered equipment with particular focus on...forklifts. We are very pleased to work with CTC as an integrator with Crown Equipment Corporation to put these products into service at the DoD as they demonstrate once again their leadership in embracing new technologies."
