“In the first year, the fund raised $10,368 allowing a total of 118 children to participate and enjoy recreational activities,” said Jerry Love. “The Fund assists hundreds of children from economically-disadvantaged homes and operates independently through fundraising efforts by service clubs, community and corporate groups, residents, Mississauga City Council and staff.”
“The fund was created to respond to requests for financial assistance to enable children to participate in Recreation and Parks activities,” said John Lohuis, director of Recreation and Parks. “Since its inception in the 1980s, the Jerry Love Children’s Fund has helped thousands of Mississauga children to enjoy unforgettable recreation experiences.”
The Jerry Love Children’s Fund is administered by Mississauga Recreation & Parks staff. One hundred percent of all donations received go towards children’s program registrations.
