A Mississauga man is under arrest after allegedly trying to remove a police officer's gun from its holster during a struggle.
Police say they responded to a call in the area of Hurontario St. and Mineola Rd. yesterday around 2 p.m.
When they arrived on the scene, they found a suspect with a knife. When the suspect approached a uniformed officer, the officer ordered the man to drop the weapon. As the officer attempted to arrest him, a scuffle ensued. At that point, police say, the suspect tried to disarm the officer.
The officer was not injured.
Dmitri Levine, 23, has been charged with assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and disarming a police officer.
