Peel Regional Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information on the crash that claimed the life of Mississauga resident Tony Mota.
Police say it was just after 7:30 a.m. when a garbage truck hit the man from behind as he rode his bicycle in the northbound curb lane of Queen St., just south of Ellen St.
A 28-year-old Mississauga man was driving a 1987 Mack disposal truck in the northbound lane along Queen St. when the vehicle struck Mota from behind and knocked him off his bike.
The cyclist was transported to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. He died today.
Police say it's still too early to determine whether charges will be laid.
