July 9, 2008 10:34 PM - An arrest warrant has been issued for a 42-year-old Toronto man after a woman and child were abducted from a Creditview Rd. townhouse complex.
Investigators allege Daniel Christopher States abducted his 39-year-old ex-wife, Lana Ashford, and the couple's four-year-old son, Cole States, earlier today from the mother and son's townhouse, just south of Britannia Rd.
The elder States lives elsewhere. He is described as multi-racial, 6-foot-1, weighing 280 pounds and with a shaved head.
The three are believed to be travelling in a white Nissan X-Trail, with licence plate number BDPY 417. They may be headed to Toronto, police said.
Police said they responded to the townhouse complex Tuesday for a dispute between the couple.
It's alleged States re-attended the townhome sometime today and kidnapped the woman and child.
States is wanted for assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, choking, forcible confinement, mischief, breach of recognizance and breach of probation.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the force's Special Victims Unit at 905-453-2121, ext. 3460.
There's no word yet on whether police intend to issue an Amber Alert, a warning system in which information about an abducted child, suspects or suspect vehicles is broadcast through lottery terminals, electronic highway signs and radio and television bulletins.
