July 10, 2008 08:11 AM - A 39-year-old Mississauga woman and her four-year-old son are safe and the woman's ex-husband is in custody after Peel Regional Police arrested a man in Toronto overnight.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Daniel Christopher States last night after Lana Ashford and the couple's four-year-old son, Cole, disappeared from their townhouse at 5955 Creditview Rd., just south of Britannia Rd. Police said they had earlier responded to the townhouse complex Tuesday when a couple became involved in a dispute.
Const. Wayne Patterson said investigators took a man into custody during the early morning hours in Toronto. Patterson said Ashford and her son were unharmed after being abducted.
Charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, choking, forcible confinement, mischief, breach of recognizance and breach of probation is 42-year-old Daniel States of Toronto. He's expected to appear today in a Brampton court for a bail hearing.
