July 11, 2008 07:57 AM - A 60-year-old Mississauga man was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries after an SUV crashed head-on into his loaded tractor-trailer on Tuesday, The Lindsay Post is reporting.
William Butler was driving his 18-wheeler westbound near Lindsay when an eastbound SUV driven by a 72-year-old man crossed into the path of the big rig, said City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officials. The force of the impact flipped the truck onto its side, spilling its load of bricks across the road.
The SUV was crushed and the driver had to extracted from the vehicle by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. He was taken to Lindsay's Ross Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto with serious injuries.
Butler was treated for minor injuries in hospital.
No charges have been laid.
