An employee of a Cooksville grocery store was assaulted this morning as he tried to stop a shoplifter from fleeing the store.
Peel Regional Police responded to the Yuan Ming Supermarket on Huronatrio St. at around 10:45 a.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting an attack.
Police said the employee approached the suspect while he was running out of the store, but the suspect punched him and kept going.
The victim was treated on scene for minor injuries.
He was last seen on foot heading westbound on Dundas St.
