In early 2007, Peel Regional Police struck a committee to examine the current look of the force. Following the introduction of dark uniform shirts and highly visible lime-green rain wear, members were asked to submit their ideas for new decals to adorn police vehicles. The current cruiser design has been in use since 1999.
A survey was conducted to obtain feedback from the membership, and the response was a great success, according to Peel Cst. Adam Minnion. Several ideas and sketches were submitted, and a vote to select the winning design was held. The new cruiser is easily identifiable and bears a modern look, Minnion said.
Later this month, the first of the newly-decaled vehicles will be rolled into service. The decals will be installed on new vehicles as they are commissioned for service. It is expected that the existing decals will be phased out over a period of three years.
