Unable to handle Slovenia's guards and unable to play at the tempo they must to have any success, the Canadians were beaten in every facet of the game. They simply couldn't get anything going at either end of the court.
Canada now must beat Korea to have any chance at grabbing one of the three Beijing berths available in the 12-country tournament.
Barrett, a 35-year-old veteran of international competition, led Canada with 16 points and swingman David Thomas added 10.
"We're definitely disappointed with the effort today," said Thomas. "Guys have to step up their effort all around."
Canada shot 43 per cent from the floor but was just 4-for-13 from three-point range.
Korea, 88-76 losers to Slovenia on Monday, is a tough team to prepare for, especially in a short time period. They play a scrambling, rather unorthodox style that involves a steady diet of three-pointers.
