July 16, 2008 11:36 AM - The Erin Mills Golden Eagles Under-16 girls are champions of the annual Wilson Youth Soccer tournament.
The Eagles went undefeated throughout last weekend's tournament in Wilson, N.Y., near Niagara Falls, and beat Holley Hurricanes of New York 2-0 in the championship game.
Vittoria Trichilo and LeeAnn Smrekar each scored a goal in the final as Erin Mills claimed the title at the 17th annual event.
The Eagles started out with a 1-0 win over Greece, N.Y. Buccaneers, with Kate Ellis netting the lone goal.
Erin Mills followed that up with a 3-2 win over Lancaster-Depew Lightning. Daniella Lock scored all three goals and was named most valuable player of the game.
The win put the Eagles into the semi-finals, where Erin Mills walked all over SC United 5-0, with Keisha Thelwell and Mickey Amres scoring two goals each and Ellis adding one.
