The SoulAdkits will get the weekend rocking a bit early when they
deliver a free lunch-hour performance on Thursday at the
Central Library Square.
The eclectic Mississauga band, which formed two years ago out of a desire of its members to create and express themselves, will bring its blend of rock, pop and Brazilian music to the show. The two-hour concert starts at noon.
Several tracks, including live versions of Go Down and Hope as well as Waves of Love and Quiero, can be heard by visiting www.myspace.com/souladikts.
The show is presented as part of the summer-long My Mississauga entertainment series.
On Thursday evening, the series continues with a vintage car night. The cars will be lined up along City Centre Dr. for gearheads to come and take a look.
The three-hour event, being presented by Firestone, gets underway at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
On Friday, the vocal and musical harmonies of Universal Music recording artists Dala will drift through the evening air in the Civic Centre Square. The duo, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine, will perform selections from its latest release, Who Do You Think You Are?
The pair has released two other albums, including This Moment is a Flash and Angels & Thieves. A new video, for the song Anywhere Under the Moon, can be viewed by visiting www.dalagirls.com.
The duo, which recently opened for Tom Cochrane, also recorded a cover of Neil Young's Ohio for an album tribute to the artist called Borrowed Tunes II. Other musicians to lend their talents to the release include Ron Sexsmith, City and Colour, Chantal Kreviazuk and The Barenaked Ladies.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
