The event, presented by Blueheel Dance Studio, features free dance lessons, salsa competitions and professional dance shows. There's even salsa workshops for those looking to learn more about the fiery style of dance.
Event organizer Caroline Augustin, who owns the studio, said there will be live examples of the casino form of salsa. The style, which originated in Cuba, features couples dancing in a circle with one person calling out various moves.
"They never know what's coming next," said Augustin, adding the unexpectedness heightens the enjoyment of the performance.
Organizers expect about 250 people to attend the event, now in its fourth year.
"Salsa is just this hot, high-energy dance and it certainly has a following," said Augustin.
The event starts at 7 p.m. and includes refreshments.
There will also be demonstrations of the merengue, cha-cha and bachata. The latter sounds particularly intriguing.
"It's like a toned-down version of the lambada," said Augustin. "But this style isn't forbidden. It's allowed and still very sexy."
Tickets cost $25. Call 905-272-3262.
