July 23, 2008 09:57 PM - A 19-year-old man charged with a carjacking earlier this year near Westdale Mall is facing 25 additional charges in connection with a string of bank and gas station robberies across the GTA.
Kyon Ferril, of no fixed address, appeared Wednesday, July 23 in Brampton court. He'll return to court Aug. 7.
The Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau laid the additional charges this week. They relate to four bank heists, including two in Peel, the robbery of a pizza delivery driver and several gas station robberies between September and December of last year.
Police arrested Ferril in late March after an armed carjacking on Dundas St. W., near Westdale Mall.
Police say a man with a gun approached a couple as they were getting into their Range Rover at about 9 a.m. March 27.
The man told the couple to get away from the SUV and then sped off in the vehicle.
The SUV was abandoned in Port Credit, where police, with help from police dogs, located a suspect.
Ferril was charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, use of an imitation firearm, flight from police and dangerous driving in connection with the carjacking.
