Mississaugan Matt Halischuk helped his Kitchener Rangers start the Ontario Hockey League championship series on the right foot last night.
The 180-pound right winger set up a pair of goals as the Rangers defeated the Belleville Bulls 5-2 in the opening game of the best-of-seven final series in Kitchener.
Halischuk drew an assist on Matt Pepe's second-period goal that put the Rangers ahead 3-1 and he assisted on linemate Nick Spaling's second goal of the game in the third.
Mississauga's Robert Stellick, a defenceman with the Bulls, did not dress for the game.
The second game in the series is scheduled for tomorrow night in Belleville.
