Subaru enjoys record sales

Record high gas prices aren't slowing down Mississauga-based car maker Subaru Canada.
Subaru announced yesterday that it had enjoyed record sales in the month of August.
They sold 1,861 vehicles, up by 26.3 per cent over last August.
According to a company press release, it was the ninth consecutive month of increasing sales for Subaru. The sporty Subaru Impreza appears to be key to the car maker's recent success with 913 units sold in August, up by 14.3 per cent over the same month last year.
Even sales of the Forester SUV were up significantly over last August.
"Subaru has the right product at the right time for the evolving automotive   
market,"said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, Subaru's president and CEO.
Meanwhile, Suburu Canada is launching the 2009 Impreza line up this month with some exciting innovations and some very competitive pricing.
"Owners are looking for an affordable alternative to gas-guzzling SUVs, but don't want to give up safety, performance or the confidence of all wheel drive," Yokoyama said.
