Mississauga's City Centre turned on the Christmas ligmore than 50,000 light bulbs decorating the trees. Janis Freeman and two-year-old Jaedyn are just two of the Mississauga residents who braved the cold for the lights.

November 21, 2008 09:52 PM - The holiday spirit has officially been lit up in Mississauga.
Mayor Hazel McCallion used her magic tonight to light up 50 trees in the Civic Square.
"I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas," McCallion told the hundreds of families gathered at the annual tree lighting celebration. She was joined by Santa Claus as well as Cinderella, Snow White and Belle.
The three princesses sang a magic song and handed McCallion a magic wand saying, "Madam mayor wave this wand in the air, only you have the magic to light up the square."
She waved the wand and magically the square was lit up.
Along with the lights, there were performances from a live band and dancers. There were clowns entertaining children on stilts, face painting, gingerbread cookie decorating and free rides on the North Pole Express toy train.
"I came just to have fun with my kid," said Vinay Kaja, who brought his four-year-old son Sai. "His favourite thing so far was meeting Santa and the jugglers."
The trees will be lit up until Jan. 15. They were put up by the Rotary Club of Mississauga.
