Six other drivers received 12-hour licence suspensions as the annual spotcheck initiative entered its first full week. Suspensions are issued when a driver has very close to the legal limit of alcohol allowed in their system.
Eighteen motorists have been charged so far with drinking and driving offences, while 34 others have received 12-hour licence suspensions since the RIDE program kicked off last Thursday. The campaign wraps up Jan. 1.
Last night, Amarpreet Pahuja, 27, of Mississauga, was charged with impaired driving and refusing a breath sample, and Jasver Singh, 30, of Brampton, was charged with impaired driving and excess blood alcohol.
