December 2, 2008 01:14 PM - A 95-year-old Port Credit man was killed on the weekend when he was struck by a car while crossing the street.
Officers from the Peel Regional Police Major Collision Bureau are appealing for witnesses to come forward, as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision that claimed the life of Jim Whale.
The crash occurred Sunday around 7:40 p.m. when the victim was walking across the Cawthra Rd. merge ramp from Dundas St. E. A car that was travelling eastbound on Dundas St. E, turned north onto the Cawthra Rd. merge ramp and struck the victim.
Whale was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Whale didn't cross at the traffic lights, police said.
The vehicle involved in the collision is described as a grey 1998 four-door Toyota Camry. Police have identified the driver, but want to speak to anyone who  witnessed the collision, according to Peel Cst. Adam Minnion.
Anyone with information is urged to call 905-453-2121, ext 3710.
