Labour Day Madness Hoopla attracted a record 87 teams from 17 North American cities.
Teams from the Cooksville Kids Athletic Team Training (CKaTT), who sent nine teams into the series, weren't gracious hosts, though.
Six teams from the local club emerged from round-robin action to play in championship games.
After much-heated preliminary round play at the University of Toronto at Mississauga and a number of community centres, the club's peewee, bantam, juvenile, girls, ladies and open division squads had all made it into the championship round.
CKaTT's tyke and junior squads weren't so lucky, however. Both were knocked out early on.
The NABA series also proved to be an impromptu showcase for scouts from the U.S. who came north to look at athletes such as Uleyyes Mendoza, a Father Michael Goetz Secondary School student who plays on the CKaTT junior squad.
NABA is a competitive international loop for players of Pilipino descent that includes Montreal, Boston, New Jersey and Orlando.
